Transmission Challenge
During my second mechanical design course at Illinois, ME 371, student teams were given a $150 budget to build a 2-speed transmission with reverse by utilizing the workshops and studios on campus. For our team’s transmission, I designed and built the fork shifting mechanism, handles, and track.
Results were recorded from dynamometer measurements, and out of 42 student teams my team ranked 2, 7, and 5 for peak RPM, peak power, and total energy generated respectively.
